You See the Screen Output as the Program Rapidly Runs(There was a time When programs Took a long time To run but Todays computers Are much faster) The Program Announces Its Intent to RunAnd identifies the Names of the files it Will create to report Results. It Asks Me About Some Optional Items that I Dont Need Right NowNote that this panel Indicates it is the last One before the Program runs. I Have Another Panel In Case There is a Big List of Stuff to Composite A Seam composite file Averages the assays Over an entire seam Height. An assay file contains Sample information On any drill core Interval chosen. (I Created both files so My coal property Names match in both Files). The Next Panel Asks Me Which Quality Properties to Composite from the Assay File into the Composite File.I match the different Items using the drop Down menus. (Since I made both Drill hole files I was Pretty consistent in What I named Things). There are other Places to indicate if Names of other items Dont match in the Two drill hole files.

The Next Panel Asks Me How to Match Item Names in My Composite File to Item Names in My Assay FileI have to tell the Program what the Seam variable is in Each drill hole file. The Next Panel is on What Seams to CompositeWho ever started this Project allowed 8 seams, However, my drill hole Data only covers three Coal seams so I am Going to tell the program To composite only 3 Seams whos numbers Are 2, 5, and 8 (seams 1,3,4,6, and 7 were put There for something else Not in the current drill Logs) When Im ready to Move to the next Panel click on the Go forward arrow (incidentally you can Also go back) The First Screen of the Composite Routine Comes UpIm going to tell it to Start a new file And if a coal seam is Missing just omit it. To Put Data in the Drill Hole Composite File pick the Seam Compositing Program from the Compass MenuNote that I chose the Menu tab.Ĭlick on the compass Routine to select and Run the program.

Progress Report The first task of creating a composite file has been completed Our next task will be to composite our assays over the thickness of each seam. When I Do This the Program Tells Me That a File 9 has been Added to the Project This allows the file To be easily matched To the project it goes With and for people to Know it is a file 9 or Drill hole composite File. I Type the Project Name and then Click on SaveIt is common to give The file the 4 letter Name of the project And then the number 9. Then I Click the Save Box and it asks me for my file name

I Type in the List of Parameters I Will Need, the Expected Ranges for the Values and the Precision I need in storing the values. It Offers Me All the Basic Items for a File and the Chance to Type in My Own ItemsUsually there will be A number of important Coal quality Parameters that I Need. It Asks Me What Type of File I Want to CreateI will click on and Pick a file 9, A composite file. When the Editor Opens I Get Ready to Create My File 9 (My Composite Drill Hole File)Under the drop Down menu under File I select New MineSight Compass Starts UpI click on the Projects Tab Then I click on the Open Project Editor Box To Build a Drill Hole Composite I Will Start with MineSight CompassUnder the MineSight Drop down tab I select MineSight Compass More Actions We will interpolate the top of the 6 seam from our drill hole data and store the result in our GSM Model We will interpolate the thickness of the 6 seam from our drill hole data and store the result in our GSM Model We will calculate the bottom of the 6 seam as Zbot = Ztop Thick We will prepare a model view so we can look at our model. We will run a MineSight Compass Procedure to composite the assays We will set up a file 15 to contain our gridded seam model What We Will Do We will set up a drill hole composite file that will compile and average all the assays over the height of each seam This is called a file 9 (drill hole composite file) Where This Presentation Assumes You Begin You have a project initialized as a gridded seam project You have a collection of uncomposited drill holes in a file 11 You have a surface Your files 10, 11, and 12 exist. These slides contain screenshot from the MineSight Computer program and procedures shown in these slides can also in similar form be found in Mintec training courses, help menus, training books, and news letters. Paul Note The term Gridded Seam Model comes from the MineSight package by Mintec.
